Ancient Rock
We are all immigrants - we make our marks upon the land, giving it meanings that are particular to our inclinations and beliefs.
This work collages the ancient, untouched rock of Australia - revered by its indige nous inhabitants as markers of place - against the carved stone monuments of ancient Sri Lanka, fashioned with respect for the natural forms from which they are forged.
Six aspects of one image explore and elucidate the whole, from detailed close-up to drawn out perspective, in a puzzlee of juxtapositions that are simultaneously ambiguous and coherant.
